Health and safety instructions for the FinnMETKO 2020 exhibition

The exhibition will comply with guidance issued by the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare dated 14.5.2020 to prevent the spread of coronavirus infections at public events, mass gatherings and during the use of public spaces.

The guidance below is based on the Regional State Administrative Agencies’ regulations, which apply to public events organized in August. Guidance for September will not be available until later on, and visitors and exhibitors will be notified of any changes.

All exhibition participants must remember to keep a safe distance from others and to follow hygiene guidance while the coronavirus pandemic is ongoing.
By acting responsibly and following these instructions, together we can make the exhibition a safe experience for everyone.

Instructions for all attendees

Please do not attend if you are symptomatic.

Do not attend the exhibition if you have any symptoms of coronavirus. Coronavirus causes a respiratory infection with symptoms including e.g. a cough, sore throat, fever, shortness of breath, muscle pains, abdominal symptoms, and a headache.

Remember to keep a safe distance and to avoid close contact.

Keep a safe distance of at least 1–2m. Make sure that you keep this distance while moving around the exhibition. Don’t forget to keep a safe distance while queueing, and avoid congestion.

There will be signs in the exhibition area to remind participants about social distancing, as well as directions and general tannoy announcements.

It is a good idea to bring an umbrella or waterproof coat in case of rain. This will prevent the indoor areas and tents from becoming too busy during rain showers.

Don’t forget to sanitize your hands.

Plenty of hand sanitizer is available at the exhibition gates, restaurants, pubs, WC areas and along the paths.

You can use hand sanitizer and disinfect your hands at exhibitors’ stands.

If you need to sneeze or cough, please do so into a tissue or the inside of your elbow.

Cover your nose and mouth with a disposable tissue while you cough or sneeze, and then dispose of the tissue immediately in the nearest rubbish bin. If you do not have a tissue, cover your nose and mouth with the inside of your elbow. Then wash/disinfect your hands.

Masks

if you wish, you can use a mask, following relevant guidance.

Cleaning has been enhanced.

Cleaning has been enhanced in the exhibition’s public areas and spaces. Cleaning is provided by a professional partner in cooperation.

Please use cards instead of cash as a payment method.

Please use payment cards and contactless payment where necessary.

Exhibition restaurants and food stands

Restaurants will comply with official recommendations set for restaurant and café activities. Hand sanitizer is available from restaurants and food stands. Cleaning, including wiping down surfaces, has been enhanced in the spaces.

When visiting the restaurants, please follow the indicated directions and seating instructions, and remember to keep a safe distance.

Instructions for exhibitors

Keeping a safe distance at your stand

Exhibitors must ensure that they keep a safe distance from others at their stand, which should be taken into account when designing the stand.

In situations where a queue or congestion may form, please remind and assist people in keeping a safe distance and, if necessary, limit the number of visitors to your stand.

Hand sanitizer for visitors at your stand

Exhibitors must ensure that their stand provides hand sanitizer and the opportunity for visitors to disinfect their hands.

Avoiding contact surfaces and the risk of infection at stands

Contact surfaces must be wiped down at least once and preferably twice daily. The recommendation is to wipe down surfaces every 2–4 hours.

Exhibitors must, at their own discretion, aim to avoid activities at their stand that would increase the risk of infection (e.g. visitors touch the same screen or use the same pen to fill out competition/prize draw slips).

Shared-use computers and terminals or other equipment should be avoided or cleaned after every user.

Also avoid handing out giveaway products or samples on a self-service basis.

Masks

Exhibitors should consider the use of personal protective equipment and instruct their own stand staff as necessary.
